1) John Turner's parents are unproven. To date, no one has successfully produced a paper trail to his mother or father, that I know of. Descendants of John Turner may or may not also be descendants of Thomas Weathersbee.
2) John Turner was of Sub Saharan African ancestry.
It is possible he had other African ancestry as well. If he was mullato, he would have had some form of ancestry that would have given him white skin, if not for his African heritage. However, given that most all of the project participants to date are of a majority European descent, it is not as easy to identify that admixture. As I identify more match segments, I will most likely start to see some other common admixture patterns that I can then look for. Sub Saharan African Admixture is abbreviated in the sheet as SSAa.
3) To date, that I know of, no one has proven Patience's ethnic heritage. Her mother was Rachel Smith. There is reason to think that Patience might not have been completely white and that she might have been part Irish but nothing solid one way or another so admixture cannot be used as a clue for her as of yet.
