John H Shook of Langhorne, born February 1, 1937 in Tunkhannock, Pa to John and Laura Shook (nee Fitch), was called home on January 12 at the age of 83.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, John was well respected by friends and colleagues over his years of service in multiple professions and organizations. During his 35 years at U.S. Steel, Fairless Works, he was so well respected that many thought when the mill closed, they would just give him the keys and tell him to lock up and turn out the lights when he left. John also served as the captain of the Middletown Township Auxiliary Police for over 30 years and was a member of the Neshaminy School District Security for 14 years. He was a Third Degree Freemason and member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Trenton Forrest No.4, marching in parades all over the region.
A proud patriot, John will always be remembered for his love of camping, his appreciation of the Neshaminy High School Vocal Music Program, his strong work ethic and of course his enjoyment of beer. His family and friends will always remember him as someone who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
John was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (nee Wambach) Shook, parents John and Laura (nee Fitch) Shook, brother Howard Shook (Philomena), sisters Doris Tonzini (Tony), and Beverly Conlon (Owen). John is survived by his brother Russell Shook (Carol) and sister Donna Shook, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. John is also survived by his children Patty Marino (Bill), Frank Buffington (Lenore), Terry Geyer (Nick), Sherry Arbach and his daughter Peggy Fario and his granddaughter Samantha Fario, both who took care of him over the past several years.
A private service will be held for immediate family on Thursday, January 21,2021. A livestream will be available on the Dunn-Givnish Life Celebration Home Facebook page at 12:30 pm. A memorial service and reception to celebrate John’s life will be held in the summer of 2021.
