John R. Sauter
John Sauter is an Associate at the Columbus, Ohio law firm of Cloppert, Latanick, Sauter & Washburn. His practice is primarily focused on civil litigation, including union-side labor law and plaintiff personal injury law.
John is a graduate of Capital University Law School. His prior work experience includes Eufinger Law Office in Marysville, Ohio, and, during law school, the offices of the Ohio Attorney General, Ohio Secretary of State, and the Franklin County Municipal Court Environmental Division.
Recognizing the importance of the civil justice system, John is a member of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee, the Ohio Association for Justice and the Columbus Bar Association. He was co-chair of the Columbus Bar Association New Lawyers Committee from 2014-2016.
John is licensed to practice in the State of Ohio, the Southern District of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
His article, Beyond Torts 101: Rare & Unique Causes of Action was published in 2014 in the American Association for Justice New Lawyers Division Sidebar. His August 2015 article on recreational liability waivers was published in Ohio Trial.
John has given presentations on the topics of labor and employment law, legal ethics, attorney advertising and Title IX education law. He is proud to coach the Capital University Law School National Moot Court team which competes yearly in the ABA Appellate Advocacy Competition.
He has been named to the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Super Lawyers "Rising Star" list, a designation that only 2.5% of eligible lawyers receive.
He is a graduate of Miami University and resident of Springfield, Ohio.
