Olivia Holt has been making waves in Hollywood for her endearing role as Tandy Bowen in the ongoing series Cloak and Dagger, a TV adaptation of the famed Marvel comic books. It’s a huge career leap and transformation for the young, 21-year-old actress who began her career with roles in Disney teen flicks after being trained and promoted by John Robert Powers.
Holt was born in Germantown, Tennessee in August 1997 but grew up in Nesbit, Mississippi. In 2011, Olivia and her family moved to Los Angeles. Before landing the role of Dagger or Bowen in the popular Freeform show, the gorgeous 5-foot-2 actress appeared in various productions on the Disney Channel like Dog with a Blog, I Didn’t Do It, and Shake It Up.
Olivia started acting and singing as early as three years old, which she combined with her passion for competitive gymnastic and cheerleading. She initially starred in local productions of Annie and Through the Looking Glass before she got her break in the indie movie Black and Blue in 2009. The young actress would go on to appear in various TV commercials including ones for Mattel and Hasbro.
It was in 2011 when Olivia’s career really got going, when she landed the role of Kim Crawford, the sole woman in a dojo in the Disney XD hit martial arts comedy show Kickin It, thanks to the training and exposure to Agents, Managers and Casting Directors provided by John Robert Powers. While many believe that Olivia and The Originals star Claire Holt are sisters, the two are not related. But Olivia does have a sister, Morgan Toll, who’s also an actress.
