2012 race recap

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Over eleven hundred runners, walkers and watchers attended the fourth annual Johnny's Run 2012. The weather was wonderful, the park was picturesque, and the mass was magnificent.

Father Kaufman generously took time out from his installation day as Pastor of St. Pius X and along with Father Weber and Father Ugo from O'Hara celebrated the mass with Father Vincent Morabito. Almost seven hundred fifty people received communion (don't forget we had several protestants, Jewish and Muslim attendees).

The Mancini family was well represented with five runners including the first female runner 12 year old Elizabeth, who finished fifth overall! Other age group winners include Christine Mancini, Rob Morro, Mathew McCalla, Megan Hallinan, Thomas Foley, Kathy Lemme, Cason Cheely, Donna Holt, Kim McBryan, Regina O'Reilly, Michael Padilla, Steven Leonhardt, Daniel Corredor, Joe Sacchetti, Elizabeth Mancini, Grace Galligan and Alfredo Corredor.

Thanks to Ron Calvy, the owner of Rita's Water Ice on Township Line, over 1000 scoops of water ice were consumed as well as 1,500 Krispy Kreme doughnuts and 1.200 packages of Herr's potato chips. Ann Ryan drove from Scranton to deliver fresh doughnuts. Jennifer Arrigo and the Herr family donated the chips.

Over twenty thousand dollars was raised for Cardinal O'Hara High School as 275 Lions attended. The same amount was raised for St. Pius X School and for Regina Angelorum. Close to $20,000.00 was generated for the crisis pregnancy center A Baby's Breath.

But most importantly more than 1,100 people heard the message from God and will be wearing t-shirts with Johnny Williamson's final Face Book message - CHOOSE LIFE.
