Raised here in Melbourne, Australia since the age of three. Originally migrated from Hong Kong.
My name is Johnny Kwong, almost two decades old and still growing, (in age...)
Since I was a kid I always had a hobby of doodling, tracing, drawing, not that I was all that great at it. This lead me to peruse more art-like subjects when going through high school. On my final year I decided to study three folio subjects: Studio Arts, Visual Communication Design and Screen and Media. This was stressful and difficult to say the least. Managing my time and juggling all three subjects while putting in 100% effort in all of them pushed me to the edge. But perhaps sometimes you need that push, the push which cultivates and transforms you into something, better.
Eventually my consistent work ethic and determination paid off. Thanks to that I secured my place at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. At this time I've almost completed my two years here, made many friends and memories along the way.
Below is a preview of what I've developed and worked on so far.
This game was created during the 1st year narrative unit. Stroke is a short first person, single player game revolving around a sick teenage girl. The theme is quite dark, as you explore moral decisions and the unfortunate past.
Originally I was going to have five levels or five "days" which the player can play through. Due to time constraints I could get one room polished and ready to play. All of the art assets were self created. A lot of the coding was done by one of my friends as well as one of the soundtracks. Rest of the sounds and music were downloaded off Soundsnap. There are also some voice acting done by a friend which is included in some interactions.

Happy Hour was my first major group project that I had worked on. We decided that we wanted to create a free for all, battle royal type of game. Making it top down was a good choice since it's a local 4 player party game and it would be simpler than making it split screen. On the project I mainly worked on concept art, user interface and assisted in level design.
The theme was space merged in with the wild west which ended up really well visually and gameplay wise. We wanted to keep the game simple but still enjoyable. The game's enjoyability is more based on the people you play with rather than the mechanics itself thought not taking away anything from the mechanics.
