Originally from Chicago, Bassist, John Mesoloras has been active on the Madison scene for the past 20 years. He regularly performs on both electric (fretted and fretless), and double bass, with a wide range of groups.
The son of Greek immigrants, he has a global perspective as a musician, bringing that sensibility, to every project.
John received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where as a member of the premier jazz small group, he traveled to, and performed at Montreux Jazz Festival, as well as the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1996 and again in 1999. In 2008 He completed a a master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Wisconsin Madison. His primary teachers were Jeff Eckels, and Richard Davis.
Highlights include performances in Mantova, Italy and the Telluride Jazz Festival, both with Gerri DiMaggio.
During the day, he is the orchestra teacher at Mount Horeb Middle and High Schools, a position he’s held for the past 19 years.
