NYP Dragons and Wodonga Dolphins Water Polo Clubs are extremely excited to announce the annual John Mason Memorial Cup Water Polo Tournament
2025 Tournament Dates: 4th and 5th of October in Albury/Wodonga
This tournament will honour the legacy of John Mason, a beloved member of the water polo community. He lived for his water polo community, trips to Hawaii and most of all his beloved wife Sue Mason and their dogs.
John was someone that would always be on the pool deck and many water polo people far and wide will remember him. Beginning his water polo journey as a junior player in Wodonga, John later moved to Melbourne, where he became an integral part of the Water Polo Victoria community, earning respect through his roles as a National League referee, club and state coach and a table volunteer at any tournament possible, including the 2007 FINA World Championships. His dedication to the sport has been formally recognised with Life Memberships to both NYP Dragons and Water Polo Victoria.
The inaugural John Mason Memorial Cup Tournament will honour John’s dedication to our sport, with the hopes of bringing the community together to celebrate not only John, but also our great sport. One of John’s strengths was his ability to connect with people and to bring people together. We hope that this event will allow you to reunite with old friends and the opportunity to make new ones.
