Welcome to John Jay Softball!
Our philosophy is it’s all about the team…the team is a single unit. We operate together for the good of the group. We win together…we lose together…we are there to pick each other up during the hard times and celebrate our accomplishments together. We are family for three months of the year. The best way to contribute to the team is with a positive attitude. Positive attitudes are contagious. Cheer, be happy and contribute.
We are all working hard towards our goals. Our goals are to improve, have fun and learn. Individual goals are important as well but they should be directed to improve the output of the team.
Some people sit around and dream of success, while others work hard and make it happen. Being a winner is an attitude. It's a state of mind. Choose to be a winner.

PARENTS:
The district, school, staff and community would like to thank you, the parent, for your dedication, commitment and passion to this sport. You are the reason for the success of this program. You are dedicated to helping refine your daughter's skills and nurture her passion for softball and it shows. You have made the John Jay Softball Program a standout in New York State. Thank you for all that you do.
All we ask is that you please be respectful at all times. Every decision that the coaching staff makes is in the best interest of the team. You may or may not agree with our decisions. We are not perfect and neither are our decisions. We often need to make split decisions under the pressure of the moment. We do our best at all moments and may make errors just as the players in the field do. Please become familiar with the Wappingers Central School District Rules of Participation regarding parent conduct. You can find it in its entirety in the booklet and available on the Wappingers School District website at WCSD Athletic Handbook.pdf (wappingersschools.org).
Also, please remember that we are with this team six days a week for several months. We are dedicated and deeply care about this program, the team as a whole and each of our players as individuals. We simply cannot guarantee playing time. There are situations where players do not get in games. Being a part of this program is a privilege. There are many ways to contribute to our team. We expect our players to have positive attitudes at all times. Negative and hurtful attitudes towards the staff and players will not be tolerated. Attitudes divide the team and are very harmful to the outcome of games and the overall season. Any situation that may cause harm to the team will have a consequence which may include removal from the team. The needs of the team will be placed ahead of any individual.
In addition, several staff members are volunteers. Their time and dedication are appreciated. Please understand that we care. We are here to learn, have fun, and to win. If you ever have any concerns, feel free to contact Coach Brooks at Lawrence.Brooks@wcsdny.org. However, I won't discuss playing time with parents. It's the responsibility of the player to come to the staff if there are concerned about playing time.
Thank you, Coach Brooks
