To his customers, it often seems as if John Gulius has been landscaping his whole life.
And although it’s true that he has always been an outdoor person who loves nature, he actually started his career in a completely different field — financial services — in a place far from Greenville, geographically and culturally.
For six years he worked in the Los Angeles office of William O’Neil, Inc., where he was tasked with coordinating deliveries and providing technical support services to the corporation’s customers. He became a top sales management professional, with broad expertise across a range of skills and responsibilities.
One day he made the bold decision to change his career, his community and his life trajectory. He applied for work with the Greenville Parks Department, and began the cross-country journey that would lead him to success as a premier landscape and turf specialist.
Settled into his new home and new job, John was soon entrusted with maintaining park landscapes and sports fields. After learning as much as he could from many wonderful people, he decided to open his own independent landscaping business.
For both commercial and residential customers, he today applies this vast experience to optimize the health of a property, evaluating its condition and performing necessary treatment cycles.
He works in close partnership with customers to ensure the best outcomes and the highest client satisfaction. He believes it is important to educate customers about turf preparation and rehabilitation, seeding, fertilization, weed and pest control, lawn chemical application, irrigation, aeration, mowing, and more.
John earned his bachelor’s degree from the Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture, where he was also a star member of the varsity wrestling team.
Even when not landscaping, he can often be found enjoying the great outdoors, whether canoeing or playing tennis. In fact, John is a top-ranked tennis player who competes in amateur championship matches.
His passions also include woodworking and pet rescue. He donates time and resources to the Greenville Animal Shelter, as well as the Miracle Hill Missions of Greenville.
