Little Wars: a game for boys and girls from twelve years of age to one hundred and fifty, or simply Little Wars for short, is a 3D turn-based strategy wargame adapted from the tin soldier and lead cannon–based game, authored by H. G. Wells, of similar name.
Players take control of an army force consisting of infantry, cavalry, and cannons to bombard, capture, and melee their opponent. Eventually, one side reigns supreme with enough points for victory upon a battlefield of their own creation! It can be played against either an AI opponent or another player. It features a set of mechanics that are easy for younger players or those unfamiliar with wargaming to pick up quickly, while also having enough depth of strategy and a gradual learning curve to be of interest to older or more experienced players.
Little Wars brings a unique skill-based element to the wargame mix that is usually resolved by static rules or luck-based statistics. Namely, when firing cannons, the primary means of offense, players have to actually line up and estimate the trajectory and power of the shot. This emulates the original pull-cord cannons from H. G. Wells's time that launched wooden spheres across the room.
