John Egerton was born in Newtown, Wales in 1941. His father was a Vicar, so he was raised in country Vicarages.
At age 19 he was accepted into The Welsh National School of Medicine, where he met his wife, Judith, a fellow Medical student. He joined the Royal Air Force while he was in Medical School, and he served actively for 5 years after graduation, and traveled the World as an Internist operating the RAF's Mobile Renal Unit.
John and Judith and their four young children settled into a Family Practice in the idllic Thames Valley, seeing patients in lovely villages in Berkshire and Oxfordshire, but the excitement and adventure of the RAF days made them unsettled. So the family emigrated to Texas in 1975, and there, in a sweet small town called Friendswood, John and Judith established their own large medical practice until 2005, when they retired and moved to a house high up on a hill in Austin, where they still live.
They feel that they were made for Austin, especially as all their children and grandchildren live around them. They spend their days reading, writing , cooking, wine tasting and enjoying their lovely views poolside, and attending classes at The University of Texas, where they have amassed a large circle of like-minded friends. They have volunteered as Physician for the Day at the State Capitol in Austin since 2005. Best of all are the times spent at weekends with the large family, grilling, sipping and playing their guitars and the piano.
