The PTO President is the focal point of the John Baker PTO. As the leader of the Parent Teacher Organization, the President sets the vision of the PTO during his/her term and ensures that the group meets specified goals. The president leads all meetings of the general PTO as well as the executive board meetings. The president is signatory to the PTO bank account, and is responsible for the overall finances of the JBES PTO. The president works closely with the JBES Principal to ensure that the school, students, and teachers are taken care of.
The PTO Vice-president is the number one assistant to the PTO president. Persons fulfilling this role should usually have a desire to pursue the PTO presidency in upcoming years. The PTO vice-president assists the President to ensure the various events during the year are successful. The Vice President is signatory to the JBES PTO accounts, and co-authorizes any payments.
The PTO Secretary has several duties that include taking minutes at each meeting and preparing a list of unfinished business at the end of each meeting. The Secretary also counts votes when necessary ,and leads meetings when the president and vice-president are not available. The secretary sends notices of each meeting to members, reads incoming correspondence at meetings, and writes any outgoing correspondence on behalf of the PTO. At the end of the term, secretary prepares documents and passes them along to the successors.
The PTO Treasurer takes and disburses the organization's funds. The PTO earns money through fundraising and donations. The treasurer ultimately receives this money. The PTO board decides where the money should go, and the treasurer makes sure the funds are given to the right people. The treasurer keeps track of and manages the funds in the PTO's accounts. The treasurer is signatory to the JBES PTO accounts.
Establishing food and drink requirements for JBES events through donations. This includes the Boo Hoo Breakfast, Chorus Concert (2x per year), and the teacher and staff luncheons.
This is an event to welcome new kindergarten students and their families to our school. A breakfast snack and drinks are provided for the students and their parents.
Fourth and Fifth grade students perform for their parents twice per year, once in December and once in the spring. This concert is held in the evening (about 6 -6:30 pm) and lasts about 45 minutes. The two grades provide the donations of cookies and juice and as hospitality we just set the items out and clean up (wipe tables)
Staff luncheons are provide four times per school year. We collect the donations (two grade levels per luncheon) and prepare the staff lounge (decorate, etc.) we have ovens, microwaves, and refrigerators available to prepare items as well. Families drop off donations the morning of the event, and they usually pick them up right after school. We clean up, (wipe tables, prepare dishes for parents to pick up, etc.)
The Donations Head is responsible for managing several of our fundraising opportunities at John Baker. Currently she keeps us making money through Amazon, Shoparoo, Mighty Nest, and direct donations.
