John Qi Dong is a tenured associate professor at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University. He serves as an associate editor for Information Systems Research and previously was an associate editor for MIS Quarterly, which named him "Outstanding Associate Editor". He is also a senior editor for Journal of the Association for Information Systems, where he received the honor of "Senior Editor of the Best Paper". He received a PhD in information systems from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and worked as a tenured faculty at Trinity College Dublin and University of Groningen. His research interests are focused on AI strategy, digital transformation, digital innovation, and business value of IT. He has published in premier journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of Marketing, MIS Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, and Journal of Management Information Systems, among others. His publications have received more than 9000 citations according to Google Scholar, and Stanford University listed him in the World's Top 2% Scientists (No. 128 in 18546 information systems scholars for 2025).
He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Journal of the Association for Information Systems Best Paper Senior Editor Award in 2025, the Best Paper Award in Track and the Best Paper Award of Strategic Management SIG at European Academy of Management Conference in 2025, the Best Paper Award in Track at Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems in 2024, the Association for Information Systems Mid-Career Award in 2023, the MIS Quarterly Outstanding Associate Editor Award in 2022, the Professorial Fellowship of Trinity College Dublin in 2022, the Research Excellence Award from Trinity College Dublin in 2021, the Best Short Paper Award (finalist) at International Conference on Information Systems in 2021, the Association for Information Systems Early Career Award in 2020, the Best Paper Award (finalist) at Strategic Management Society Special Conference in 2018, the Outstanding Junior Researcher Award from University of Groningen in 2017, the Best Paper Award of OCIS Division (1st runner-up) at Academy of Management Annual Meeting in 2015, and the Dean's PhD Fellowship for Research Excellence from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2013, to name a few.
