Johanna Padula - Soprano
Of Argentine and Italian nationality, Johanna Padula was born in 1989 and has spent her life living between both countries.
With a powerful, rich and flexible voice, combined with a solid vocal technique and marvelous acting skills, Johanna Padula has enchants both audiences and critics.
In October 2023 she sang Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni, Mozart), a production of the Juventus Lyrica company, at the Avenida Theater in Buenos Aires. Directed by André Dos Santos and Maria Jaunarena.
In June of that same year she sang Leonore (Fidelio, Beethoven) in a concert version for Espacio Victorium. Directed by Hae Yeon Kim.
During the period 2019-2022, as an intern artist of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, she performed the roles of Amelia (Un ballo in maschera, Verdi), Leonore (Fidelio, Beethoven), Magda Sorel (The Consul, Menotti), Leonora (Il Trovatore, Verdi), Madama Butterfly (Madama Butterfly, Puccini), Mimì (La Bohème, Puccini), Lucrezia Borgia (Lucrezia Borgia, Donizetti), Giulietta (Les Contes d' Hoffmann, Offenbach), Micaela (Carmen, Bizet), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte, Mozart), among others.
Also, during this period she performed numerous concerts at the Colón Theater as part of the cycle The ISATC at the Golden Hall.
In 2022 she worked as a cover of Magda Sorel for the production of The Consul (Menotti) at the Colón Theater in Buenos Aires. Directed by Justin Brown and Rubén Szuchmacher.
In the summer of 2021, she was summoned by the Teatro Colón in the production Las mujeres de Mozart (Mozart's women), a lyric theater show with excerpts of W. A. Mozart’s operas, by Mariana Ciolfi. Directed by Mariana Ciolfi and Iván Rutkauskas.
In 2020 she was chosen to debut at the Colón Theater in the roles of Anna Gomez (The Consul, Menotti) and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte, Mozart). These productions were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As well, she was also selected to sing the role of Micaëla in the production of Bizet’s Carmen by the Opera Festival Buenos Aires company. This production was also canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic
In 2019 she sang the leading role of Armide, by Jean-Baptiste Lully, in a co-production of the Versailles Baroque Music Center (CMBV) and the Institute of Advanced Studies in Art of the Colón Theater (ISATC). Directed by Benjamin Chénier and Deda Cristina Colonna.
That same year she also played the role of Flora in Juventus Lyrica's production of Verdi’s La Traviata, directed by Antonio Russo and Ana D’Anna.
She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Musical Arts with an emphasis in Voice from the National University of Arts (Buenos Aires).
She has performed many chamber and oratory concerts in the main performing halls of Buenos Aires, such as the Golden Hall of the Colon Theater, the Usina del Arte, the Kirchner Cultural Center, the Faculty of Law Hall of Buenos Aires University, among others. In Italy, she performed many concerts in Milano, Verona, Brescia, Mestre and Firenze.
In 2019 she won the Artistic Festival Competition of the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires (FAUNA). During 2020 and 2021 she was a pre-finalist in the Opera competition Clermont-Ferrand, and was awarded a special mention in the Vienna International Music Competition. In the same period, she also was a finalist in the 1st Online Classical Voice Competition SOI Scuola dell'Opera Italiana Fiorenza Cedolins.
