Research
I work in both philosophy of science and philosophy of mind. I am interested in naturalistic accounts of mental representation (primarily teleosemantics) and the role representation plays in cognitive neuroscientific explanation.
I also have an interest in both aesthetics and the history of philosophy, especially the work of Immanuel Kant.
My current research focuses on questions such as:
How (if at all) do representations feature in scientific explanation?
What are representations about?
What can information theory contribute to understanding the mind?
My aim is to provide a philosophically rigorous framework which will help to better understand what science has revealed about the mind.
