I am a SNSF-Ambizione grant holder at the University of Basel, studying when and why parties do not re-nominate their own incumbents willing to take on another mandate. 

More generally, my research focuses on: 

• candidate selection in political parties

• coalition politics and formation

• legislative politics and committees

• Japanese politics

Previously, I have been a postdoctoral researcher in comparative politics at the University of Zurich and the Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. 

I hold a PhD in Political Science from the Hertie School in Berlin, Germany, and a BA and a MA in Social Sciences from Humboldt University Berlin.
