Jocelyn Wynter Chen is the author of NA time-travelling fantasy, COLLATERAL DAMAGE, YA action and adventure novel, BURNING EMBER, and her debut novel LAST MOMENT, which amassed tens of thousands of global readers before its republication. Not limited to fiction, Chen won first place for her essay on affordable healthcare and was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the State of California Senate for her work.
A graduate of the University of Toronto, Chen holds a degree in Economics with minors in Political Science and English. Born and raised in California, the Canadian-American writer currently works in finance. Beyond writing, she enjoys swimming, biking, making music, and long walks with her dog, Mocha.
During her childhood, Chen experienced a near-drowning experience, which motivated her to learn how to swim. She later became a competitive swimmer, then swim instructor and lifeguard. Shaped by her background in aquatics, water often emerges as a recurring motif in her stories, serving as a reminder of resilience and one's capacity to overcome personal fear.
Whether in her athletic and academic pursuits or her personal struggles, Chen found an outlet from the real world through writing and creating worlds of her own. As such, she hopes the same words that once wandered around in her mind can find a home in your hearts.
