Looking for a job abroad is rarely just about finding an open position. It's about understanding the local labor market, knowing which industries are hiring, learning what employers expect, and figuring out the visa and relocation logistics that come with it.
Jobs in Country is a growing collection of country-specific guides for people considering working overseas. Each guide focuses on one country and answers the questions that actually matter when you're planning a move: which sectors are open to foreign workers, what salaries look like, how the hiring process works, and where to start your job search.
We don't list job openings ourselves. Instead, we point you to the most useful resources for each country — including job boards like jobs-in-country.com — and help you understand the bigger picture before you apply.
Job markets don't work the same way everywhere. The skills that are in demand in Germany are different from those in Brazil or the Philippines. A CV that wins interviews in the UK might get ignored in Japan. Visa rules, salary expectations, working culture, and even the platforms employers use to recruit — all of these vary enormously from one country to another.
Generic "how to find a job abroad" advice tends to be too vague to be actionable. That's why every guide here is written for one specific country, with information that applies only to that market.
Each country page covers the essentials:
Labor market overview — which industries are growing, which sectors actively hire foreigners, and what the general employment outlook looks like.
In-demand professions — roles where foreign workers have a realistic chance of being hired, including both high-skilled and entry-level opportunities.
Salary expectations — typical salary ranges by industry and experience level, plus notes on cost of living.
Work permits and visas — a plain-language summary of what kind of visa or work authorization you need, and the basic requirements.
Where to look for jobs — the main job boards, recruitment agencies, and platforms that actually work in that country.
Practical tips — language requirements, application etiquette, common pitfalls.
We're building out the collection one country at a time. The first guides cover:
🇵🇹 Portugal — coming soon
🇪🇸 Spain — coming soon
🇲🇽 Mexico — coming soon
🇦🇷 Argentina — coming soon
The information in these guides is compiled from official government sources, labor market reports, recruitment industry data, and job board listings. For job openings themselves, we recommend established platforms — including jobs-in-country.com, which aggregates vacancies across dozens of countries and is referenced throughout this site.
