What if I want to apply for two jobs?
You can apply for more than one job. You will just need to submit your CV for each role that you apply for or if an expression of interest is required you will need to complete one for each role you are applying for.
I have a disability, how can I gain additional support?
If you have a disability and may require reasonable adjustments through the recruitment process please contact the Recruiting Manager or Human Resources.
Why are the role requirements for the role so important?
The role requirements, which are included at the end of the Role Profile, detail what the requirements are for the job role. It explains what the elements of the role are and how applicants should demonstrate this; whether it be through your application or through the interview.
The decision to invite you for an interview and assessment will be based entirely on the information you provide on your application/CV. Therefore, it is extremely important to provide examples of the skills, knowledge, and experience that you possess which relate to the points on the role requirements.
Do I have to disclose my criminal convictions?
As we work with vulnerable young people and adults all posts within Positive Steps are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You are required to declare any pending prosecutions or convictions you may have, even if they would otherwise be regarded as ‘spent’ under the Act. You must also declare any cautions or bind-overs.
If you have been convicted or cautioned you may still be eligible for an appointment depending on the nature and circumstances of the offense. However, failure to disclose details will result in your application being rejected and if appointed, may lead to dismissal.
If the post requires you will be subject to an enhanced DBS check that you will need to complete once you have received a conditional offer. Further information about DBS checks can be found online.
I don’t have work experience, can I still apply?
Yes, you can apply for a role. Our team will help with this before you are offered employment. This is in line with current requirements. Further information is available on call.
Who can I put down as referee?

One of these must be your current or most recent employer. If you have not previously been employed as a referee related to relevant voluntary or community work or, if appropriate, your head teacher or lecturer/tutor from your last school or college, or university.
