Supervision and Mentoring
I am an experienced PhD, Masters and honours thesis supervisor. My excellence in supervision was recognised by a UNSW Arc PGC Supervisor Award in, 2017. I have examined theses for international and Australian universities.
I have expertise in the administration of higher degree research through my Faculty role at Associate Dean level, where I had oversight of more than 100 PhD and Masters students for UNSW Business School.
I have acted as a mentor in the Asia-Pacific Women in Leadership Mentoring program, 2021-2022 and ECA Development Program, UNSW Business School, 2020. I have supported the professional development of my mentees by demonstrating excellence and providing advice on a range of issues such as channelling research efforts and developing research pipelines, developing research and industry networks, and negotiating career and working relationships.
Teaching
I have taught small and large undergraduate and postgraduate level courses and achieve consistently high teaching evaluations (more than 95% satisfaction with the overall quality of teaching).
Students value my enthusiasm, ability to engage with the class and encouragement to think critically and relate knowledge to practice and I was nominated for UNSW Students' Choice Teaching Award, 2023.
My goal is to create a learning environment where students build their analytical, critical thinking and team skills. My courses incorporate case studies, team based assignments and presentations. I aim to develop student’s capacity to make and articulate judgments both in writing and verbally. My courses are designed to relate theoretical concepts to empirical evidence and current events and frequently include insights of my industry co-operative work and research .
I have significantly contributed to the design of the UNSW Business School Doctoral program and the Masters of Financial Economics program as well as curriculum reviews of School of Banking and Finance courses and programs.
