Reflection on the Mobility Week in Piatra Neamt
April 2025
Global Thinking Starts Young
Representatives from Romania, Greece, Türkiye, and Ireland gathered in Piatra Neamț, Romania, for the kickoff mobility of the Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) project, hosted by Școala Gimnazială Nr. 1. This two-day event marked the beginning of an inspiring Erasmus+ journey that brings together students and educators to simulate real-world diplomacy and engage in climate-focused dialogue.
The goals of this mobility were to:
Build a strong foundation for international cooperation among partners
Introduce students to the principles of climate diplomacy and the workings of the UN
Distribute responsibilities and collaboratively plan project activities
Select MUN committee topics related to climate change
Promote intercultural exchange and team building
Throughout the event, students aged 11–15 participated in ice-breaking activities, collaborative discussions, and committee planning sessions. Teachers and NGO representatives worked closely to coordinate logistics, design educational content, and establish a clear roadmap for the project’s implementation.
Key Outcomes:
A shared understanding of the project’s objectives and timeline
Agreement on MUN committees and climate-related topics
Strengthened intercultural ties between students and educators
Empowered young participants ready to represent their assigned countries in upcoming MUN simulations
Defined strategies for managing challenges and ensuring smooth communication among partners
This first mobility laid the groundwork for a powerful educational journey where students don’t just learn about the climate crisis—they learn to act, negotiate, and lead. With climate change as a central theme, JMUN connects global awareness to local action, preparing students to be the decision-makers of tomorrow.
