About Me: I am an Assistant Professor of English at Xavier University of Louisiana. My research focuses on the nuances and specifics of African American culture in American literary and cultural studies. My current project examines how Black southern writers have articulated a cultural and geographic landscape, the Gulf South, in contemporary literature. My work has appeared in the Louisiana Folklore Miscellany and Wait Five Minutes: Weatherlore in the Twenty-first Century and is forthcoming in The No Limit Reader: Race, Place and Music in the Dirty South. I currently serve as a board member of the Louisiana Folklore Society, an Advisory Board Member of the Ernest J. Gaines Center at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and an Executive Council Member of the Society for the Study of Southern Literature.
