Let's get something straight about the pricing, the average price charge by our competitor for new system is $9,000 to $12,000 with 1/3 of that being pure profit. other word 1/3 for the equipment, 1/3 for installation & 1/3 profit on top of that. For Us the cost of equipment and the cost to install it (saving you the 1/3 profit). the reason this happens is that you as customer decided to let some one have your money simply because they have an big ad or even on the television. Most larger contractors do not even want to talk to you unless you are willing to sign a contract to put several thousand in their pocket.
The larger HVAC companies have huge "fancy fleets of trucks" to maintain. Most service technicians are on sales commission. this means that they get paid to sell you new equipment as opposed to working on it & fix it. Many unit replaced have either nothing wrong or something very simple that can be easily corrected at minimal cost.
The small HVAC company does not have the fleet of fancy trucks or the sale force. They must make their living on the word of mouth and good quality work. The small company mechanic must have good well round knowledge to repair and service existing equipment. Where as installation of new units requires little skill. Why shouldn't we get that work?
