Welcome. I am José Manuel Guevara Vela, a computational chemist with more than ten years of experience in quantum chemistry and molecular simulations. I study chemical reactivity, molecular interactions, and the nature of chemical bonding using high-level theoretical methods.
I earned my Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and my PhD in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Oviedo in Spain. I held postdoctoral positions at UNAM, IMDEA Materials, and the Technical University of Madrid. I am currently a Research Fellow at Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom.
My research focuses on understanding chemical bonding and non-covalent interactions in systems relevant to catalysis, energy, and the environment. I work on topics like metallic clusters, host guest systems, and CO2 capture and conversion. I am especially interested in collaborative projects with experimental groups who want to explore mechanisms or gain deeper insight into the behavior of their systems.
If that sounds like you, I would be happy to connect. Please, feel free to email me at j.guevara-vela [at] hw.ac.uk
