Hi! I'm James Manley, Professor of Economics at Towson University. I'm interested in the intersection of health, nutrition, and environment.

Working in the Economics Department at Towson University in Maryland since 2008, my research centers on assessing the impact of environmental stimuli and social protection programs on human health. My work has been featured in the British Medical Journal: Global Health, Land Economics, Economics and Human Biology, World Development, the IZA Journal of Labor Economics, and Pediatrics. I have been hired as a consultant by UNICEF, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the UN International Fund for Agricultural Development, the UN World Food Program, Save the Children UK, the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development, and 3ie. I have also been an invited researcher in Rome, Chile, Mexico, and Lima, Perú. I graduated with my PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MS in Applied Economics and have BA degrees in social psychology and computer science from the University of Nevada.
