I was born and raised in Rawang, a town about 15 miles from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Before coming to UCLA, I earned a Master's degree in Linguistics from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III), where I was advised by Cécile Fougeron and Anne Hermes. I also hold a double Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and English from National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), and spent a semester as an exchange student at Leiden University in the Netherlands in Fall 2017.
When I'm not doing linguistics, you'll likely find me listening to music or playing Zhongruan (中阮), a traditional Chinese plucked string instrument. Here is a short snippet of what a Zhongruan sounds like.
