Oren (27) comes to his parents' house to pack his belongings before moving with his girlfriend to their new apartment. During this day, out of seemingly simple interactions, the family dynamics reveals itself, and exposes the protagonist's place- between child and adult, between intimacy and Alienation. The house constitutes the space in which past, present and future mix into a chronicle of separation.

HABER

Documentary USA (2008) 34 min. | English

In 1914, Fritz Haber is Germany's greatest chemist. His Nobel prize-winning synthetic fertilizers have saved the world from mass starvation. But as World War I breaks out across Europe, slaughtering millions of young soldiers, the desperate German military asks Haber to invent an entirely new kind of weapon. Already having sacrificed his Jewish identity and his wife's career to achieve success, Haber's decision not only unleashes weapons of mass destruction for the first time in human history, but also threatens to destroy his family as well.

Echad Mi Yodea

In it, dancers dressed in solemn black suits and sitting on chairs chant the lyrics and start to strip, throwing back their bodies and clothes to the heavens. (The Batsheva troupe, with whom Naharin works exclusively to create new dances, has a way of moving in such unison as to seem divinely inspired.)

Hannah can’t wait to make her Holy Communion – only problem is she’s Jewish! An Irish/Jewish film with an international feel, the beauty of the story lies in its simplicity, humour, and the universal desire to fit in.

How to Break into Yiddish Vaudeville

A hilarious neon animation narrated by Shane Baker, explaining Yiddish Vaudeville, its past luminaries and his own life in it. Drawings by Ellen Stedfeld. Neon Animation and direction by Jack Feldstein.New York-via-Sydney animator Jack Feldstein has developed a trademark style of "neonizing," whereby he manipulates video into a kaleidoscopic color palette that resembles classic American neon signs. In his newest offering, How to Break into Yiddish Vaudeville, Feldstein uses a combination of neonized public domain found footage and live action video to whimsically document the cutthroat world of NYC burlesque theatre. Featuring the voice of Shane Baker and drawings by Ellen Stedfeld.
