It's a space where you can work on your struggles. Where you can come to terms with your past, unpick difficult relationships and move on with your life.
That's up to you. If you feel like you want, or need, counselling then get in touch.
No, you don't need to go through a doctor.
Again that's up to you. It's impossible to say how long it will take: some people come for weeks, some for years. I'll regularly review with you how it's going so that you're not coming for longer than you need to.
I've found that people can work out for themselves what they need in order to move on. I'm here to help you unmuddle what's on your mind and that way you will have more clarity with any struggles in the future.
If you no longer need counselling that's great. But it could be that you're scared of coming or don't feel ready. If you need to talk it through please do contact me.
Yes, there's lots of different types of mental health support:
Psychiatrists tend to prescribe drugs and treat mental issues as medical disorders.
Psychologists use scientific research to assess and formulate a treatment plan.
Psychotherapists and counsellors are essentially the same. I would say that psychotherapy is about working more deeply on your issues and where they originate.
There are different schools of therapy and it's about finding what's best for you.
