Welcome to my website!

I focus my research on the limits and distortions of representative democracy. I have two main questions guiding this inquiry. First, I am interested in how to conceptualize and measure representation. Second, I am interested in how common citizens might solve their collective action problems to demand better representation. I am particularly eager to understand the role of political parties and social media in contemporary representative democracies. I also enjoy studying deliberative democracy (mostly Habermasian perspectives, but also Open Democracy and Liquid Democracy) and the interfaces between complexity and political economy. My research has been published in journals like Party Politics, Physical Review E, Physica A, and others.

I hold a MA in Administration from the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration. After some years in the financial market, I am currently a PhD Student in Politics at New York University.
