Energy System
The SMR is regarded as one of the alternatives to achieve 2050 carbon neutrality since it significantly reduces the accident probability related to safety and overcomes the weakness of renewable energy. We will continue the research pertaining to the SMR system by developing the high-fidelity performance analysis model, presenting the efficient operation procedure with adaptable control logic, and improving the automation level through reinforcement learning.
Most importantly, we have plans to search for the best ways to operate the SMR efficiently with renewable energy systems like solar and wind power. The electricity output generated by the solar and wind power systems can always be changed by the time, season, weather, and so on. The SMR can complement the intermittent and irregular renewable energy characteristics.
However, the fast load changes also affect the lifetime of the mechanical parts of the SMR system. So, in the future, the optimal operation strategy’s development, coupling the SMR, solar power, wind power, and energy storage systems, will be valuable research and may provide the solutions for 2050 carbon neutrality.
