The Impact of Ancient Connectivity of the Korean Peninsula and Japanese Archipelago on the Present Genetic Relationships of Spined Loaches (Family: Cobitidae) (Master Thesis)
(2023~)
Research on comparative genomics of Korean and Japanese freshwater fish, Cobitis.
Determine whether the incongruent phylogenetic tree of Cobitis nalbanti living in the Tamjin River of the Korean Peninsula is caused by Incomplete Lineage Sorting (ILS) only, or the introgression of other lineages.
Identify the history of geographical connection and disconnection between Korea and Japan.
Sampling in Korea
Initiated collaboration with Kyushu University, Japan
Multispecies Coalescent Based SVDquartets and PAUP*
Detect Tree discrepancy
ABBA-BABA test, f4-ratio, f-branch statistics
Detect Genome-wide introgressed loci
Allowing reticulate events, inferred direction of introgression with branch length difference
Assembly and Annotation
Comparing NT and AA tree
Infer and compare effective population size
Reconstruction of the terrain with -125m sea level, using ArcGIS
