Dr. An joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) as an assistant professor in Fall 2023. He received his PhD and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida and the University of Texas at Austin, respectively. Before joining UTRGV, Dr. An was an Assistant Professor at the University of Mount Union. He is passionate about advancing sustainable, multifunctional infrastructure materials. His primary research interests lie in the areas of concrete materials and structural engineering. Dr. An has over 60 publications and was the lead author of 25 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. His research has been funded by DOTs, NSERC, NASA and UTRGV, etc. Dr. An serves several professional organizations such as ASCE, ACI, ASEE, KSEA, KGS-NA, and TRB.
