Dr. Jinwoo Kim is currently working at the Department of of Civil & Environmental Engineering in Hanyang University as an Assistant Professor. Before joining Hanyang, he was an Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and worked at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, as a postdoctoral research fellow. He earned PhD and BS from Seoul National University and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), respectively. His vision, as a researcher, is to build the human-friendly construction and built environments, wherein human workers and citizens feel happy and comfortable while every operation becomes more productive, sustainable, and safer. To achieve this, his scholarly activities are toward a better understanding of how humans feel, respond, and behave in complex construction systems by leveraging digital technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Wearables, Robotics, Virtual/Augmented Reality, Simulation, and Building Information Modeling, in integration with long-established construction theories and knowledge. His efforts have also been translated into the construction industry, such as one technology transfer ($12,000) and Design-for-Safety guideline delivery (Samsung Electronics). He was the lead developer of Site Vision, a start-up company in the area of visual AI-enabled construction digitalization, and is currently serving as a scientific advisor. In recognition of his research works, he has received multiple outstanding paper awards and scholarships from academic conferences and national institutions (e.g., Korean Society of Civil Engineers and Korean Ministry of Science and Technology). He likes playing football, working out, and exploring other countries.
