Short Biography
Jinseok Woo graduated from Kumoh National Institute of Technology, Republic of Korea, in 2009. He obtained a Master of Engineering degree from Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan, in 2011, and earned a Doctor of Engineering degree from the same university in 2017. He subsequently worked as a Research Assistant Professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University. In 2019, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering, Tokyo University of Technology, as an Assistant Professor. Since 2025, he has been serving as an Associate Professor.
He received the Excellent Paper Award at the 22nd Intelligent System Symposium on Fuzzy, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, and Computational Intelligence, Japan, in 2012; the Best Presentation Award at the International Conference on Fuzzy Theory and Its Applications, Republic of Korea, in 2018; the Best Presentation Award at the Joint 11th International Conference on Soft Computing and Intelligent Systems and the 21st International Symposium on Advanced Intelligent Systems in 2020; and the Best Presentation Award at the 24th International Symposium on Advanced Intelligent Systems. He was also honored with the Best Teacher Award at Tokyo University of Technology in 2025.
His current research interests include mechatronics, robotics, computational intelligence, rehabilitation, elderly care systems, and cognitive science for developing human-friendly robotic partners.
