Colin Kaepernick has been a thorn in the side of the National Football League (NFL) since he originally took a knee during the playing of the National Anthem of the United States in protest of racial injustice. Recently, Kaepernick settled his grievance with the NFL for an undisclosed amount of money. Kaepernick began a movement that led multiple players and teams to kneel during the National Anthem, all to the disgust of politicians and some fans and even the President often expressed his disapproval. Yet Kaepernick and other players still took a knee in protest of the United States' oppression of black people and people of color. Kaepernick filed a grievance against the NFL alleging collusion for not allowing him to play in the league. In his article "The NFL Silenced Colin Kaepernick But Did Not Break Him", Tyler Tynes explores, whether by settling his grievances with the NFL, Kaepernick sold out to his cause and was effectively silenced. Or, by accepting the settlement, did Kaepernick, rather, make the NFL take a knee?
