My name is Jianhui Gao. I am currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Statistics under the supervision of Prof. Jessica Gronsbell and Prof. Lei Sun at the University of Toronto. My current thesis focuses on developing semi-supervised methods for various sources of health data, including electronic health records, medical imaging data, and genetic data.
I am also a CANSSI Ontario STAGE trainee, working with a team of inter-disciplinary mentors (Dr Andrew Paterson in addition to my PhD supervisors), on developing novel statistical methods for conducting genome-wide association tests between phenotypes prone to measurement error or misclassification and rare variants in population biobank analyses. Recently, our proposed work on robust transfer learning methods for trans-ancestry polygenic risk scores received funding from DSI-McLaughlin Centre.
