About my name
In Chinese, "Jianfeng" means "the sharp edge of a sword", while "Lan" refers to the colour "Blue". If anyone has seen the movie The Lord of the Rings, I'm sure you'll associate the name with the sword that the elves gifted to Frodo, which flashes blue whenever orcs are in the vicinity. But I was actually named this after my family who thought I lacked metal in my life based on the Chinese five elements tradition (Jin, Mu, Shui, Huo and Tu / Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Soil). I prefer my English name Jeff, because it not only sounds similar to my Chinese name, but is also easy to remember.
