I’m currently a Software Engineer at Google Cloud. Prior to this, I was a researcher at Microsoft GenAI, where I led efforts in model development, quality improvement, and customer engagement for OpenAI models. My team and I customized frontier models and integrated them into flagship AI products such as GitHub Copilot, Bing Chat, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and SWE Agent.
Before transitioning to industry, I was an Assistant Professor of Statistics at the University of Georgia, focusing on engineering statistics—particularly uncertainty quantification, computer experiments, and data fusion. Earlier, I completed my Ph.D. at Georgia Tech’s School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, where I spent five formative years exploring the intersection of machine learning, advanced manufacturing, and healthcare. My research spanned 3D-printed medical devices, material design for soft robotics, and cell culture systems for cancer treatment. Along the way, I also earned a Master’s degree in Statistics.
My academic journey began at the University of Science and Technology of China, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering through the Special Class for Gifted Young program. It was there that I met my wife, Yujia—an inspiring peer who truly embodies the meaning of gifted.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, crafting, and playing sports. That said, I’m still adjusting to Seattle’s rainy weather, which hasn’t quite grown on me yet.
