Jhum Revolution is a movement dedicated to reviving and promoting sustainable shifting cultivation practices among indigenous communities in Chittagong Hill Tracts. We believe in preserving traditional agricultural knowledge while integrating modern sustainability practices to protect our environment, ensure food security, and empower local farmers.
This was the day our team took its first step, we were honored to receive the Youth Innovation Grant, a recognition that fueled our commitment to making a difference.
With this support, we began working for the farmers of the hill tracts, aiming to build sustainable and climate-resilient solutions. This milestone marked our first climate-focused initiative, and it strengthened our resolve to keep pushing forward.

This was the time when we heard from the farmer's story. Under the shade of ancient trees, stories of strength quietly echoed. Team Jhum Revolution sat down with two brave indigenous women who opened their hearts about the struggles and resilience rooted in Jhum cultivation. Their voices remind us that behind every harvest is a tale of survival, love for the land, and unbreakable spirit.
To build a resilient and sustainable future where traditional Jhum cultivation is recognized, respected, and revitalized as a powerful tool for food sovereignty, environmental harmony, and cultural identity among indigenous communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and beyond.
Our mission is to protect and promote the wisdom of Jhum farming by:
Empowering indigenous farmers through education, innovation, and advocacy.
Preserving biodiversity and natural ecosystems through sustainable land management.
Bridging traditional agricultural knowledge with modern science for climate resilience.
Raising awareness and fostering dialogue around the importance of shifting cultivation in achieving ecological and social justice.
For centuries, Jhum cultivation has been a way of life for indigenous communities, providing food, preserving biodiversity, and maintaining ecological balance. However, modernization, deforestation, and policy challenges threaten this age-old practice. The Jhum Revolution aims to:
Support indigenous farmers and their rights
Promote sustainable land use and environmental conservation
Raise awareness about the importance of Jhum farming
Bridge traditional wisdom with modern agricultural advancements
