Awards & Lettering

Students are eligible for a number of awards based on their participation and achievement in various state contests, festivals, competitions, and department-sponsored activities throughout the academic year. Additional awards include:

Department Awards (Announced at Senior Recognition Night) – Given to 1-2 seniors

ICDA Awards – Given to approximately six Seniors for their outstanding participation and leadership in JHS Choral Music

All-State Participation Certificates: Presented to students accepted into the Iowa All-State

Chorus Directors Awards – Given to students in each ensemble who have exemplified dedication, leadership, kindness, and focus. 

The Johnston High School Choral Department proudly acknowledges the outstanding accomplishments of our ensembles and individual members each Spring. Students in each ensemble will earn certificates and pins for participation and are eligible to earn a letter award in recognition of their contributions to the program. An example of the Lettering Application is shown below.

More lettering information will be released later in the spring. All choir students are eligible to letter through activities such as volunteering, solo and ensemble festival, and All State participation.
