The Write Her Future Scholarship powered by LancĂ´me is one of many funding opportunities available to Black students and students of color through the NAACP Inspire Initiatives. This scholarship is intended for Black students and students of color, who identify as female, pursuing an undergraduate degree.

Through the generosity of our donors, we advance efforts to ensure equity in educational opportunity that prepares students for success in school, work, and life.

SECU Foundation established the People Helping People four-year scholarship program to help North Carolina public high school students attend college.


Each of the 115 North Carolina Local Education Agencies (LEAs)/School Districts will receive a minimum of one scholarship valued at $10,000 payable at $1,250 for up to eight consecutive semesters for a senior to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina System.

Couch Oil Company of Durham will award four $1,000 scholarships to four high school seniors in a 12-county area who plan to attend a 4-year college or community college.

Scholarships awarded to occupational therapy students at the associate level and occupational therapy students at the professional level and who are members of the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association. Description: Provides scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students who have shown a career interest or demonstrated practical experience in the plastics industry. Minimum Eligibility: Be a full-time student in good academic standing Be majoring in or taking courses that would be beneficial to a career in the plastics industry. This includes but is not limited to chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and business administration. Be a rising college sophomore, junior or senior at a four-year college or two-year technical school or A graduate of a four-year college seeking to obtain a post-secondary graduate degree.

Description: Provide scholarships to undergraduate students with demonstrated aptitude and career potential in the arts. The purpose of this scholarship is to financially assist students who are pursuing a career in gerontology or geriatrics. Selection of Recipient(s): To apply for the scholarship, a student must be a junior, senior or graduate student currently enrolled in an accredited university within the eight Southeastern states: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, North and South Carolina. The following criteria will be used to rank nominations: 25 percent - Financial need 25 percent - Application aptness 10 percent - Writing skills 15 percent - Maintain 2.5 GPA 10 percent - Commitment to do volunteer work with elderly.

LA Tutors awards a monthly $500 Innovation Scholarship to high school and college students who showcase their creativity and make a positive impact.

MusicAuthority recognizes the positive impact that music can have on a student’s learning experience. Studies have shown how music can enhance learning- from improving memory performance to relieving anxiety, music can be a great component to aid a student’s college experience. Seventeen $1,000 scholarships to a member from Illinois; Indiana; Iowa; Kansas; Kentucky; West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina or South Carolina; Arkansas, Louisiana or Mississippi; Missouri; Nebraska; Pennsylvania or New York; Washington, Oregon or Idaho; Ohio; Oklahoma; Alabama, Georgia or Florida; Tennessee; Texas; Wisconsin. In addition, seven scholarships are available to FFA members pursuing a two-year degree in agricultural business/farm/livestock or ranch management or agricultural sales and marketing to the states of Kansas; Kentucky; Nebraska; Ohio; Oklahoma; Texas; Alabama, Georgia or Florida. Applicants must live on a family farm, exhibit strong leadership skills, financial need and demonstrate interest in managing a farm.AWARD: 24 scholarships at $1,000 each, non-renewable.

Established in 1988, this scholarship offers residents of Durham, Orange, or Wake County, who have overcome significant adversity, the opportunity to pursue their dreams and improve their lives through education or training. The GlaxoSmithKline Opportunity Scholarship is administered by the Triangle Community Foundation.EligibilityEligibility: Applicant must meet the following eligibility requirements * Have been a permanent resident of Durham, Orange or Wake County for a minimum of one year * Be a US citizen and/or legal resident of the US * Demonstrate the potential to succeed despite adversity * Have an exceptional desire to improve himself/herself through further education or training. There are no limitations on age, income level, previous education, course of study or training program the applicant is planning to pursue. The scholarship may be used to begin a program or continue a program in which the applicant is already enrolled. It may be used for state universities in North Carolina or community colleges. GlaxoSmithKline Inc. and Triangle Community Foundation employees and their family members are not eligible. Value Up to $5,000 per year for a maximum of four years. Between four and six awards are made annually. Scholarship may be applied to expenses for tuition, required fees, and required books. The scholarship is automatically renewable, provided the recipient remains in good standing in the program he or she has chosen.

1. Applicant must be an American, residing in the state of North Carolina for the past twelve (12) months. Applicant must provide proof of American Indian ethnic background as defined below: * An individual who maintains cultural identification as an American Indian through membership in a Native American tribe recognized by the State of North Carolina or the Federal Government. 2. Applicant must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.0 scale and enrolled as a full-time student for the next semester/quarter in one of the 16 schools of the University of North Carolina system. 3. Applicant must provide proof of financial need. 4. Applicant must indicate leadership abilities and community involvement. 5. Former scholarship recipients may apply annually for continuation of funding. Renewal of the award is not automatic. 6. Former scholarship awardees that re-apply must meet application requirements to be eligible for the scholarship. 7. Only applicants working toward the completion of their first undergraduate degree(s) are eligible for this scholarship. 8. Students transferring from a private, technical, or community college to one of the school in the U.N.C. System are eligible for this scholarship if they are considered a rising sophomore, junior, or senior by the U.N.C. System school they will attend the following semester or quarter. To verify upcoming attendance at the U.N.C. System school, such transfer students must include a copy of their letter of acceptance at the U.N.C. System school. 9. Awardees will be notified by telephone no later than the last Saturday in July and are expected to attend the Triangle Native American Annual Heritage Gala on the third Saturday in August in Raleigh, North Carolina to receive their scholarship money.

Cary Visual Art, Inc. (CVA) has established a scholarship program to encourage higher education study in the visual arts field. Individual scholarship award amounts of $1,000 per year for up to 4 years will be awarded to each recipient. Recipients will be selected based on artistic merit, significant volunteer service to the arts, and intention to pursue an art- related college curriculum. Limited to residents of Cary, NC.

Residents of Wake County or North Carolina who are entering or currently attending an NC college or university with preference given to North Carolina State University. Applicants must have a high regard for obtaining an education and the courage to pursue it in spite of limited financial resources; demonstrate leadership, involvement in extracurricular activities, friendship to others, solid work ethics and a commitment to academics; have a purpose and a plan for being a productive citizen; and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, recognizing the value of all people regardless of religion, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or ability.

Residents of Wilkes County who have been accepted by a post-secondary institution (college, university, technical or community college) and demonstrate a need for financial assistance. First preference will be given to applicants that are members of or children of Cub Creek Baptist Church in Moravian Falls, NC; second preference will be given to applicants in the geographical area of the Moravian Falls community; third preference will be given to applicants in Wilkes County at large.

Established in 2008, this award was created by Ouimet Director Joseph Onstott in honor of his late son. The Onstott Scholarship is in memory of Kevin Onstott, who died at the age of 27 in an accident on December 15, 2004 at Northridge Country Club in Raleigh, North Carolina where he was Assistant Superintendent. Proceeds of the 23rd Annual OnstottInvitational at Woodland Golf Club on August 11 benefited the scholarship. The Onstott Scholarship is for an Ouimet Scholar attending Methodist University, NC State or for another worthy scholar.To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must have completed at least two years service to golf as caddies, helpers in the pro shop, or course superintendent operations at a club in Massachusetts. The awards are "need-based" and assist with tuition at accredited undergraduate institutions.

To be considered, all applications must be received (or postmarked) by Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Applying students must be planning to pursue a higher-education degree that relates to the construction industry. Scholarships are worth $1,000 and must be applied to the 2022-2023 school year at the institution in which the student is enrolled.

Four scholarships are available from the NIADA Foundation, one for each region covered by the organization. Region II includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Applicants must be a high school senior residing in Region II and have maintained outstanding academic achievement based on their official transcript. Applicants must also demonstrate an aptitude for college-level work based on SAT or ACT scores.

The North Carolina Retail Merchants Association offers 48 scholarships of $2,500 to North and South Carolina residents who are members of the association or the Carolinas Food Industry Council. The scholarships can be used for tuition expenses at any accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants are chosen based on their academic record, test scores, extracurricular activities, student employment, career path and the recommendations provided. Recommendations are not required as part of the application but are considered when they are included.

The North Carolina Association of Educators offers educational assistance to North Carolina residents enrolled in a public high school during their senior year who demonstrate character, community involvement and scholastic achievement. Applicants must submit a completed application form, resume of accomplishments and documentation that they understand the philosophies of Dr. King. An essay that describes why the applicant deserves the scholarship, an official transcript and two letters of recommendation are also required. One letter of recommendation must be from school personnel and the other from a community member.

Administered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority, in order to apply for the Jagannathan Scholarship, students must be a graduating senior who plans to enroll full-time as a freshman at one of the institutions of the University of North Carolina system. Applicants must meet the requirements to be considered a North Carolina resident under tuition guidelines and have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership and financial need. Applicants must be nominated by the financial aid office of the university they plan to attend or by a high school counselor. Applicants must take the SAT and complete the FAFSA.

The Carolinas Food Industry Council offers employees of its member companies the opportunity to apply for one of 40 scholarships worth $2,500 each. Applicants must be the spouse or dependent of a permanent, full-time employee of a CFIC Retail, Wholesale or Supplier Member company. The employee must be employed for at least one year. The scholarship is also available to students who are part-time employees for at least six months. High school seniors and undergraduates may apply.

The Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. provides a $1,000 scholarship with a minimum GPA of 3.75 who is involved in community service. The student’s school determines all other criteria for the award, although only one nominee per school is permitted.

The Carolinas-Virginia Retail Hardware Scholarship provides undergraduate scholarships to children of employees of the National Retail Hardware Association. Applicants must be located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia or West Virginia. Children of employees are defined as natural-born, adopted or stepchildren, although stepchildren and wards must live in the home of the employee. Parents must be full-time employees for at least two years and the firm must be a member of the association for at least one year. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

There are 17 scholarships of $12,000 offered through the Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarship program. The scholarships are available to graduating seniors from a 14-county area in North Carolina. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll as a full-time student at North Carolina State University, UNC-Chapel Hill or UNC-Greensboro. Students may renew the scholarship, but must maintain a 2.7 GPA or higher while attending college.
