Jayantha GUNARATNE
Ph.D. in Bioscience, Tokyo Institute of Technology
Senior Principal Investigator, IMCB
Deputy Division Director, IMCB’s Cell & Molecular Therapy Division
Professor (Adj), NUS Medicine, National University of Singapore
Dr. Jayantha obtained his PhD in Biosciences from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan in 2003. In 2004, he was offered a postgraduate research scholar position at Scripps Institution, University of California San Diego, USA to pursue his postdoctoral work on genome annotation, proteomics and biochemical analysis in developmental biology.
When he joined IMCB in 2007, Dr. Jayantha was a founder member of IMCB Advanced Proteomics Lab. He pioneered the establishment of Advanced Proteomics Technology in Singapore and initiated a Translational Biomedical and Clinical Proteomics Research Programme at IMCB. Key outcomes of this programme include discovery of novel protein targets for ocular neovascularization and triple negative breast cancer, and developing first-of-its-kind clinical mass spectrometry assay for pathogen detections. He also established a large collaborative network of several local and international research institutes, universities, hospitals and government agencies. He has a track record of over 100 publications and several inventions.
Lim Zijie, PhD

Jared Lim
BSc. in Biomedical Sciences, La Trobe University
Research Officer
Jared Lim brings expertise in MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry-based proteomics while having experience with liquid-chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) with a background in biomedical sciences acquired from La Trobe University, specializing in proteomics. Jared has contributed to the development of MALDI-based assays, and assisted others in their projects in general as well, demonstrating a commitment to expanding the capabilities of the lab.
He is passionate about cancer research, and recently, about food proteomics. He continues to develop his skills and expertise to develop himself further and to contribute more to the lab. He enjoys bouldering and climbing and is an avid foodie.
Expertise: LC-MS, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry
Senuri De Silva
BSc. (Hons) in Computer Science and Engineering, University of Moratuwa
PhD Student
Senuri graduated from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka with a Bachelor with Honors in Computer Science and Engineering in January 2019 (first class). Her keen interest in the application of computer science in translational biomedical research led her to pursue a PhD.
She started as a PhD student in January 2022 (SINGA scholar). Her current research interest is to develop a computational pipeline to integrate proteomics data employing breast cancer as the main case study. Her goal is to identify potential diagnostic biomarkers and uncover mechanisms in breast cancer.
