Spring 2024: Class size 19 - Course Evaluation
(Pennsylvania State University has changed the class evaluation to the Student Educational Experience Questionnaire (SEEQ) and no longer provides an overall numeric score for instructors. Therefore, I upload the entire course evaluation document that includes comments I receive from my students on this website instead.)
Selected student comments from the course evaluation:
"I believe that my learning experience in this course has been a positive one throughout this semester. I came into this course and found it fairly difficult at first, but then as I got to know other students in the class and continued discussions with professor Shin, I really began to understand and grasp the concepts being taught."
"He frequently called on people to participate in a non-biased way, and he always asked us if he had any questions or did not understand something. He was pretty patient with us."
"The only recommendation that I would have for this course would be to have professor Shin continue to teach the class the way he did after he received student feedback as it made the learning experience significantly more meaningful."
"The professor has been great and including everyone in the classroom. At the start of the semester, I think many of the students were struggling to understand the material and follow along in class. However, after the first exam, the professor released an anonymous posting where students could give feedback on how to improve the class, and since then the learning and understanding has been much better. Also, the professor has done a bonus assignment after the exam which not only helps with your grade, but it helps with understanding your mistakes and correcting them. The change in the classroom from the start of the semester to now has been very beneficial to my learning and understanding of course concepts."
"You were very nice and it seemed like you genuinely wanted us to do well in your class. You were willing to take our feedback every step of the way and include it in the way the class was structured."
