The Jewish Comics Library of Seattle (JCLS) is a new addition to Seattle’s cultural landscape. Our collection is made available at our pop-up library location inside Couth Buzzard Bookstore (8310 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle). We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with tax-exempt status.
JCLS is a unique endeavor dedicated to highlighting and celebrating the profound contributions of Jewish creators in comics and graphic novels. By showcasing the historical and cultural impact of Jewish participation in this art form, we aim to create a dynamic space for exploring Jewish identity and creativity. Our collection offers an accessible, entertaining, and enlightening way to foster a deeper understanding of Jewish culture—one that counters the stereotypes and prejudices that fuel antisemitism. These works provide a window into the lived experiences of Jews, presenting individuals in their full humanity rather than reducing Jewish identity to simplistic tropes. At the same time, the collection serves as a mirror for the Jewish community, reflecting the richness and diversity of Jewish life.

Through research and hands-on experience, he discovered the power of graphic novels to captivate readers of all levels. His background in Jewish education—as a longtime Sunday School teacher for the Secular Jewish Circle of Puget Sound—inspired him to bring these two passions together and see where the journey might lead.
