2.) Do your best to keep your purchased item off of railroad tracks, especially when a train is preparing to pass. This type of negligence would not bode well for your jewelry.

4) Polish your jewelry once or twice annually with Renaissance Wax. You can find small containers of this amazing Crystalline Wax in our products. Or, bring it to us and we will polish it for free!
The Beauty of Upcycled Products: All of our jewelry is handcrafted & created from upcycled, rescued products. This is how we do our part to love the EArth we call home. AND, this is how we keep our costs so insanely low!. Less overhead means less money out of your pocket for the beautiful bling you desire! We use vintage silverware & flatware recycled ♻️ Copper, Estate Jewelry and other used, upcycled products in our jewelry. Our jewelry is art. It is not made from pure metals and perfect gemstones. Some metals tarnish, oxidize, turn color, conduct heat, attract 🧲, etc. If the metal of your necklace turns your neck green, this does not mean you were duped and deserve a refund. Oftentimes, it is the purest metals that do oxidize and turn black or green, such as pure silver or Copper. This black or green color is called Patina, which we will explain below.
The incredible attributes of warm healing copper: Did you know that copper is not only a beautiful, bright colored metal, an excellent electrical conduit and a leading fad in all facets of the retail industry. Copper is Malleable, but it is tough, making it a top choice for jewelers and jewelry lovers alike. It has a gorgeous natural color and shine.
Copper does not rust nor disintegrate when exposed to oxygen like many metals do. Copper oxidizes by developing a green or black protective layer on its surface, called patina. The longer the exposure, the tougher the patina gets. This layer of protection can preserve the inside of copper for thousands of years!
Copper is easily mixed with other metals to form stronger alloys such as bronze and brass. Bronze is a tin and copper alloy, and brass is a zinc and copper alloy. Copper and brass are quickly recycled. Copper is highly Recyclable– Over 80 percent of all the copper ever mined and manufactured are still in use today, and they are all recyclable. Because of this, copper is considered one of the most eco-friendly metals. This is another great reason copper is loved by tree hugging jewelers and jewelry lovers!
Have you ever noticed the old-fashioned trend of copper and brass door knobs? Copper is antibacterial, antimicrobial anti-fungal! It is one of the few elements that can produce the oligodynamic effect, ions of Copper break down certain proteins that make up single-celled organisms, killing them! Copper can even kill, C-diff, flu virus, Norovirus, COVID and hospital superbugs such as E-coli and MRSA.
Copper helps your body make red blood cells and keeps nerve cells and your immune system healthy. It also helps form collagen, a key part of bones and connective tissue. Copper may also act as an antioxidant, reducing free radicals that can damage cells and DNA. Copper helps the body absorb iron. It Relieves pain and inflammation caused by arthritis and Sterilizes wounds (due to its antibacterial properties). Copper Improves the immune system and works as an antioxidant. WHO KNEW?!
HOW TO STORE YOUR COPPER JEWELRy: Make sure that all your copper pieces are thoroughly dried before storing them in an airtight container — exposure to moisture and air is what causes copper tarnish. Always look for a cool and dry area when storing your copper. You can place them in a Ziploc bag or any other airtight bags to further reduce your jewelry’s interaction with air. You can also store your jewelry with anti-tarnish paper that absorbs pollutants that can corrode your copper. Doing these steps will slow down their rate of tarnish.
How to care for your copper jewelry: It's best to avoid wearing copper jewelry when swimming in pools or using household detergents that contain chlorine because it may damage copper jewelry. Furthermore, body oils and salt from your sweat cause your copper pieces to tarnish over time, so it's important to keep them clean and polished.
High Quality Glazes : This is why we use high quality polishes & glazes such as Everbrite/ Protect-a Coat, Mother's Aluminum Polish and Renaissance Wax to seal the metal and retard the oxidation process. Please follow said links to learn more about these amazing products & how we use them.
Polishing Copper jewelry with a wax or Lacquer finish: If your copper bracelet already has a Crystalline Wax or lacquer type finish, it will be a long time until you start seeing traces of tarnish. Eventually, you will notice that it will get dull if it isn’t cleaned properly. But you can prevent this using a polishing cloth to clean your copper bracelet periodically. Polishing can help restore the shine it had but don’t overdo it— overpolishing can rub some of the lacquer off. Cleaning your copper bracelets once every two months is ideal, and remember that you need a polishing cloth specifically for copper since other types may not be effective. The wonderful thing about counting your copper piece with Renaissance Wax, is your ability to :re polish with an additional layer whenever necessary without fear of peeling or ugly discoloration. ***If your bracelet is so dirty that polishing doesn’t help, try cleaning it using warm, soapy water with a lint-free cloth. Gently rub your bracelet using the cloth and dry it afterward.
Cleaning bare or naked Copper jewelry:
Tip 1: Using Lemon Juice and Salt: Using a mildly acidic substance like lemon juice removes mineral deposits from your bracelet, and the salt is the abrasive that rubs it off. You can use a glass container that has lemon juice with a bit of salt— soak your bracelet for 10 minutes, then rinse it with warm water before drying it off with a microfiber cloth to give it back its shine.
Tip 2: Lemon Juice and Baking Soda: You can make a cleaning paste with acidic and abrasive components by adding equal parts of baking soda and lemon juice. Use this paste to gently clean the bracelet by rubbing it with a cloth, an old toothbrush, or your fingers. Once it’s as clean as can be, give it a rinse and dry it off with a soft cloth.
Tip 3: Lemons and Limes: For this method, start by cutting a lime or lemon in half. Sprinkle one half with salt and rub it all over the tarnished areas of your bracelet until it’s clean. Rub the piece using the rough side of a sponge, and finish it off with a beeswax polish for a longer shine.
Tip 4: Salt and Vinegar: You can simply pour salt along with white vinegar over your copper bracelet, and then rub it to remove tarnished areas. Then, simply rinse it off and polish using a soft, dry cloth. Alternatively, you can place one tablespoon of salt and one cup of vinegar into a pot— fill it with water, and then place the bracelet inside. Wait for it to come to a boil for all the tarnish to come off,
Tip 5: Lemon Juice Dip: You can also make a lemon juice dip with some salt (make sure to use a ceramic bowl). Let your bracelet sit in the mixture for 5-10 mins, scrub it with a cloth or an old toothbrush, rinse it with water, and then dry with a soft cloth
Tip 6: Jewelry Polishing Cloth: After you've finished cleaning your copper bracelet using any of the tips above, it's best to polish it using a jewelry polishing cloth. Always use a polishing cloth made specifically for copper.
If these at-home methods don't work because your copper bracelet is heavily tarnished, then you'll need to use a commercial cleaner designed for copper jewelry. Simply dip a microfiber cloth in the solution and use it to rub your bracelet gently. Then rinse and dry your bracelet afterward. The products that I mentioned above are wonderful and if you don't have them on hand. We are always willing to polish and apply glaze to your piece free of charge
