Please make sure you arrive at the airport with plenty of time to check in, get your boarding pass before check-in closes and clear security. See the table below for the timeline {Jetstar International flight- 61 1800 718 568}.
All times listed below refer to scheduled departure times unless you are notified otherwise during a delay.
Before you get to the airport, we recommend you check your flight's identification requirements and the limits for luggage liquids, aerosols, gels and powders. If you are not at the gate before it closes, you will not be able to board your flight and you may lose your fare entirely.
International travel has changed, but we've got you covered. To help you plan and prepare the documents you need, we've created this handy checklist. Keep this close when you travel, as you will need to complete this step for every flight, including return flights.
Jetstar is asking passengers to get to the airport early before their flight, in a move it says will help "improve punctuality and reliability".
From May 23, check-in and bag drop will close 40 minutes before departure for the airline's domestic flights. Currently, the cut-off time is 30 minutes before departure.
For international flights, the cut-off time is 60 minutes before departure. Customers boarding the airline's A320 or A321 aircraft currently have up to 45 minutes before flight.
The gates for domestic and international flights will also close five minutes earlier, which is 20 minutes before departure.
The changes are part of a wider effort to improve the low-cost carrier's reputation.
"We know our performance is not up to scratch and we are working hard to improve punctuality and reliability," said Jetstar chief operating officer Matt Franzi.
Franzi added the new check-in, bag drop and boarding times will bring it in line with other low-cost airlines around the world, such as Ryanair and easyJet, which also have a 40-minute cut-off time.
Step 1 – Check government sites for the latest information
There may be additional steps you need to complete to enter your destination. Travel requirements vary between destinations and can change at short notice.
Vaccination – Your destination may require proof of vaccination to permit entry.
Health declarations – If required, declarations will need to be completed before you arrive for your flight.
Insurance – Some insurers now offer COVID-19 cover. Insurance may be required to enter your destination.
Visas – Be sure to check if visas are required. Note that some destinations that had visa-free travel now require visas.
COVID-19 testing – Tests may be required at a specified time frame before you depart and possibly when you arrive.
Contact tracing apps – If tracing apps are required, you’ll need to set these up before you arrive for your flight.
Check government sites before you fly to make sure you're eligible to travel. You can view the departure and arrival requirements for your destination on our International travel page. If you have a connecting flight, be sure to check transit and destination requirements.
Step 2 – Get your international vaccine certificate
If your destination requires proof of vaccination, you will need to bring your vaccination certificate to check-in for your flight. If you have a connecting flight, be sure to check the requirements for the transit destination and connecting airline as additional vaccination requirements may apply. You have to follow the strictest conditions.
If you have been vaccinated in Australia, you will need your International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (ICVC) as proof of vaccination. This certificate is specific to international travel and differs from the certificate you may use on your state government service app. To get your ICVC, you need your passport, then go to Medicare online through MyGov, or through the Medicare app.
Not eligible for Medicare? You need to contact the Immunization Register to get your vaccination certificate.
Step 3 – Go to the airport
Please note: check-in, bag drop and gate times for Jetstar Airways (JQ) flights have changed and closed earlier.
Check when you should arrive for your flight. Remember, face masks may be required in some airport terminals and onboard, depending on government requirements. To learn more about mask requirements and how we keep you safe at the airport and on board, see Fly Well.
Online check-in is available for select international flights. If online check-in is not available for your flight, you will need to check-in at the airport. Please arrive at the airport early.
Please bring relevant travel documents with you to the airport, such as proof of vaccinations, visas and insurance, if required.
Air New Zealand check-in and bag drop for domestic flights close 30 minutes before departure.
Jetstar customers with upcoming flights are being notified of the changes via email and text. There are also signs in the airport terminal reminding customers of the new cut-off times.
Check-in opens two hours before the flight for Jetstar domestic customers, and three hours before the flight for international customers.
