I have worked as a contracted pilot of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) for the past 8 years aboard the E/V Nautilus. As a contracted pilot, I spend months each year at sea, exploring the ocean and all of the wonders it has to offer. Expeditions have taken me from the Galapagos Islands to the far reaches of the South Pacific to the coast of Western Canada. Dives have included explorations of sea mounts, whale falls, hydrothermal vents, and scuttled ships. It never ceases to amaze me what incredible life lives 3,000 meters under the sea. I included a few photos below to highlight a few of the many incredible creatures.
Although I mainly work with two-body ROVs, I also have experience with single-body vehicles. I both fly and perform subsea manipulations. Manipulations range from instrumentation work to biological (i.e. coral) and geological sample collections.
