Jesse James Road Race Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by an endowment. Funds for this endowment were raised locally through donations, fund raising and the former Jesse James Road Race.  It is given to a Garretson High School Senior who plans to attend a college, university, or trade school.  The amount of the scholarship will vary depending on current interest rates and is payable on the student's second semester of higher education.  A check will be sent directly to the student's school.

A recipient of this scholarship must have:

     (1)  not violated any training rules as defined by the student handbook

     (2)  participated in a minimum of two sports during his/her Junior and Senior year

     (3)  a 3.0 cumulative grade point average

     (4)  achieved a total of five varsity letters in any combination of sports

The selection will be made by a committee from outside the school and will be based on the student's overall achievements.  This scholarship will be given only on years when qualified applicants apply.  Presentation will be made at the awards banquet.

More information may be obtained by contacting Bob Bennett. Donations may be sent to Jesse James Road Race, Box 361, Garretson SD  57030 or left at the First Bank and Trust in Garretson.
