I am an Assistant Professor of the History of Christianity at Belmont University, with a Ph.D. in World Christianity from Duke University. My work explores how Chinese Christianity has taken shape amid the dramatic transformations of the twentieth century.
I focus especially on three intersecting areas: the evolving relationship between Christianity and revolutionary politics in modern China; the rise of nationalism and its impact on religious life; and the role of the missionary movement in China's modernization.
Through this lens, my research seeks to illuminate the complex entanglements of faith, politics, and global exchange that have defined China’s modern history. At heart, I am drawn to the questions that arise when people of faith navigate times of profound change—and how their stories help us better understand both the past and our present moment.
